This article summarizes the second of a series of lectures delivered at the Cosmology School "Introduction to Cosmology". It reviews different methods used to measure the quantity and distribution of Dark Matter in the Universe in their historical context: based on studies of pairs of galaxies, gravitational lensing, and density and velocity perturbations.
