abstract:
Retrograde asteroids, found in limited number in the Solar System, are characterised by a great diversity in terms of the stability of their orbits. They are characterised by a large diversity when it comes to the stability of their orbits.
Thanks to new software tools, it is possible to investigate the influence of observational errors on the chaotic behaviour of orbits in a very flexible way.
In particular, it is possible to verify how predictable their trajectories are, depending, for example, on potential non-gravitational effects typical of asteroids. A quantitative estimate of the chaos was made using Lyapounov indicators and the Mean Exponential Growth factor of Nearby Orbits (MEGNO), which were visualised as a dependence on various parameters describing the dynamical system and potential perturbations.
